This is the first blog post in the #Staffnetworkseries which aims to assist anyone currently running or interested in running a staff network as well as workplaces that are considering launching them.

Ajay

My network is called iCAN (the Insurance Cultural Awareness Network) and we represent BAME and International colleagues from across the insurance industry. We launched in May 2017 and have amassed over 700 members.

Our recipe for success (as per my previous networks) is all about running your network like a business. Setting goals and objectives, creating measurable KPIs and importantly, listening to the demands and needs of your membership.

Our current and future vision entails being the voice of multiculturalism in the industry — we have made such headway in a short amount of time by investing in our marketing capability and this has paid off for us as we are sought after for advice by companies and press. Our current theme is “Year of Impact” so every action is focused on making a difference.

Our future vision is to have a real impact on the careers of BAME/International colleagues across our sector.
